1. Due to sanitary reasons, we cannot
accept any returns for toilet seats, bidet seats, washlets, toilets, or
urinals once the box or packaging has been opened. Only if the package
has been unopened can we return the product with a restocking fee.
2. Like women's swimsuits, toilets come in one- and two-piece varieties. In a one-piece toilet, the tank and bowl are cast as one fixture, resulting in a lower-profile design. Two-piece toilets have separate tanks and bowls.
3. Toilets (yes, toilets!) have a rich and storied history. The
modern version found throughout North America and Europe is also known
as a water closet, which uses water to flush away waste through a
drainpipe to another location. Archaeologists have uncovered the
remains of flush toilets dating back 4,600 years!
4. We may take them for granted, but flushing toilets and functional
sewer systems go a long way to prevent our societies from being overrun
by typhoid, dysentery, and other potentially fatal diseases.
5. Though the flush toilet is nothing new, many modern toilets incorporate luxurious features such as heated seats, spray nozzles, and auto-flush sensors.
6. In the late 19th century, a plumber by the name of Thomas Crapper
designed a version of a siphoning flush toilet. Unfortunately for his
descendants, his surname became synonymous with this toilet style.
7. Credit the Japanese for the resurgence of feature-packed,
bidet-style toilets. More than half of the households in Japan have
toilets with bidet seats, also known as washlets.
8. Federal law in the United States mandates that all toilets use a
maximum of 1.6 gallons per flush. We carry models that use as little as
half that volume, including some that provide an option between half-
and full-volume flushes.
9. The Americans with Disabilities Act mandates that facilities must
provide a toilet seat that stands 17-19 inches from the floor to
accommodate smooth transfers of people to and from wheelchairs.
10. For people confined to bed, we offer a variety of commodes, which are innocuous, even handsome pieces of furniture that discreetly conceal chamber pots and bedpans.
