There are a handful of basic options that feature in every model of TOTO's
Washlet. This is basic, for beginners and the germ conscious who don't have the
disposable income for finer models. It should be clarified that the Washlet is
not a toilet, but rather a toilet seat that fits on top of any existing, installed toilet bowl.
Soft-Close Seat
Self-explanatory, but so common sense it bears elaboration. Slamming a standard
toilet seat or dropping it accidentally can chip your porcelain at worst and will
certainly make an unpleasant noise. The Washlet's seat closes quietly and slowly.
Since the whole thing is made of anti-microbial plastic, it couldn't make a noise
if you forced it to.
Heated Seat
Not a bad way to start or end a day. The seat, water, and air (only in nicer
models) are all calibrated to body temperature, eliminating the unpleasant shock
of a cold bathroom seat.
Controls
Even the entry level model features hand-operated controls to instruct what
kind of cleaning you want. Some are wireless remotes that mount on the wall, others are alongside the device.
Cleansing Modes
Choose front or rear cleansing angles with the controls for a steady stream
of aerated water. You can even adjust the water pressure and temperature. The
cleansing wand retracts, extends, and sanitizes itself before and after every
use.
A Step Up
Other models offer more specialized features that can make the experience even
more sanitary and pleasant.
Warm Air Dry
A soothing, precisely aimed stream of air dries you thoroughly to keep the
procedure completely hands-free. The air pressure is adjustable to five settings.
Air Purifier
The Washlet even neutralizes one of the more unpleasant aspects of using the
bathroom, by deodorizing the air in and around the toilet bowl. Truly a feature that everyone will appreciate.
Auto Open and Close
Sensing the presence of a person, the S400 Washlet will open automatically
and close when you leave. This creates even less of a possibility for germ contamination and conveyance.
